Bangkok Post quoted Mr Korbsak Sabhavasu Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand overseeing economic matters as saying that the government will be able to start investment projects under Thai Khem Khaeng (a Strong Thailand) program in October 2009 and this will help push gross domestic product into a positive figure in the fourth quarter of the year.
Mr Korbsak said that the projects to help shore up the economy include education system development, purchasing 200,000 computers, the upgrading of 700 clinics nationwide to hospital standard, dust free roads construction and irrigation development.
He added that these would involve investment of about THB 200 billion. As the political situation had improved, investors will be returning.
The deputy prime minister is confident economic growth next year will return to a plus figure.
