China plans US$3 billion for section of China-Laos-Thailand railway

Kunming (ANTARA News/Asia Pulse) - Yunnan Province in Southwest China and the Chinese Ministry of Railways will jointly invest 20.4 bln yuan (US$2.98 billion) to build the Yuxi-Mohan section of the China-Laos-Thailand international railway, according to an official with Yunnan railway construction leading group.

The Yuxi-Mohan railway is about 600 km long. Its feasibility study will be completed within this year for commencement of construction as early as possible.

The total investment of 20.4-bln yuan includes 10.2 bln yuan of capital, with 70 per cent from the Ministry of Railways and 30 per cent from Yunnan province.
