(BangkokPost.com) - A survey conducted by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security revealed that Bangkok had the lowest level of human security when compared to other provinces in Thailand.
Bureau of Social Development and Human Security director Suwinai Wattatham said the 10 indices of the 2007 Human Security Report included accommodations, health and sanitation, education, employment and compensation, individual security, family security, social support, sociocultural support, rights and justice, and politics and governance.
The study was conducted in both individual and regional levels nationwide.
According to the study, northern Thailand had the highest level of human security with a score of 77.21 percent, followed by the northeastern region with 75.25 percent, the South with 65.23 percent and the central region with 63.12 percent.
Five provinces with the highest scores were Chiang Mai, Phrae, Lampoon, Nan and Phayao. Five provinces with the lowest human security included Bangkok, Phuket, Samut Prakan and Nonthaburi.
The capital had the lowest scores in accommodations, education, individual security, and rights and justice.
